Ubuntu for Moslem has updated release 7.10


UbuntuMe, Ubuntu Muslim Edition, an Ubuntu-based Linux distribution enhanced with Islamic software, has been updated to version 7.10. This version has exactly the same features as the 7.04 version but is built on Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon).

UbuntuMe is available on 2 CD's or one DVD.

The UbuntuME CD 1 has the same content as the standard Ubuntu CD with the following changes:

  • OpenOffice, Gnome Games removed (available on CD 2)
  • Flash player installed and configured for Firefox (to enable Quran recitations in Zekr)
  • WCC (parental control) enabled by default (so as browsing the Internet is safe) ; blacklists downloaded from here.
  • UbuntuME packages installed: islamiccal, ubuntume-artwork, ubuntumewcc, minbar and zekr.
  • Miscellaneous packages: AptOnCd, rar, unrar, vlc, nautilus-open-terminal
CD 2 has contents: All currently available updates, OpenOffice, Gnome games, Arabic language packs, Ogle (DVD player), Offline recitations for Zekr: Muhammad Siddeeq al-Minshawi (16kbps, 193 MB) and Huzify (24 kbps, 322 MB) (files provided by www.versebyversequran.com).

The DVD version of UbuntuME 7.10 has same content as CD 1 and 2 plus recitations by Sa’ad al-Ghamadi (40 kbps, 433 MB) and Mishary Rashed Alafasy (128 kbps, 1.6 GB).
